The world is turning upside down

Why, you ask? Well, I watched American Idol last night and I didn't hate Sanjaya. I actually thought his performance was sweet and understated. I think the kid might be improving--last week (I did end up catching his performance before heading out for my 800s) I cringed instead of cried, and this week I was (dare I say it?) impressed. Kudos to him for actually attempting something with Spanish in it. I'm no expert but I thought pronunciation sounded okay. I will even go as far as to say that Haley should be going home this week instead of him. I wasn't aware that the song "Turn the Beat Around" could be so incredibly boring, but she has a talent for making exciting songs boring, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Usually she is only second on my hate-list, but this week she topped it. However, I'm afraid it's probably curtains for Phil this time around.

Had a decent set of eight hill repeats yesterday. I felt good, but jogging the downhills seems to have done something to my leg. It's my left quad--I was having a little pain on the way back, which persisted last night and to a lesser extent this morning. I iced it and have been staying off it as much as possible. I may take today off--I'll see how I feel after work. It doesn't feel like anything serious. It's more than soreness, but I don't think it's anything that rest and taking it easy for a day or two won't fix. I just hope I'm good to go by Saturday for the 15K!

It doesn't help that the weather report for Saturday predicts cold, damp, crappy conditions. This April cold snap sure is getting old! At least it's not the 30s (much). Realistically, I probably perform better in that sort of weather, so I should be happy, but it will be an uncomfortable race. Also, my parents are coming up to see the end of the race and then we're going to spend the day doing the museums and downtown Indy--we even booked a room at a hotel so we can have a nice late dinner with a few drinks and not have to worry about driving an hour to get home. Too bad we can't have the warm 70-degree weather of a couple weeks ago on Saturday...sigh...

I totally agree with you about Sanjaya and Haley. Haley really stunk and Sanjay was actually good. I voted for Blake though. I have no clue who's going home tonight...

I hope you run great Saturday. NO MORE DOWNHILLS until then. Let your quad heal. The weather forecast for Boston on Monday is horrible and I hope it changes. I'll still try to run my best though. I really want a PR!
