Goodbye, Melinda (for now)

I was surprised and truly saddened when Melinda was sent home from American Idol last night. She has been my favorite ever since she walked through the doors to audition. No one else seemed to come close to her passion onstage, and I always found her likeable and genuine. I didn't always like the songs she chose (usually I had never heard them), but she made me want to listen anyway. If she makes a CD with songs similar to "I'm a Woman" and "Nutbush City Limits," I will probably buy it. Although I like Jordin and Blake, certain things about their personalities start to get on my nerves after a while. Now that Melinda's gone, I have little interest in who actually wins. Not that it matters! I think all three are headed for record deals, and we'll see how possible careers pan out after that.

This is the first time in a long time I've actually gotten into watching much TV at all. But other than American Idol (which I don't really like on its own merits--it just depends on the people), Mark and I watch a few shows with some regularity: Heroes, Bones, and House. I'm not quite as enamored with House, but if we start watching it, we usually finish out the episode. I look forward to Bones and try not to miss it, and we clear our Monday nights for Heroes. I also like The Office and Scrubs, but usually by Thursday we're kind of sick of the TV and we find something else to do. I wish NBC would schedule The Office and Scrubs right before Heroes to make my life more convenient. :) Now hopefully the networks don't do anything stupid, like schedule Bones at the same time as Heroes. Luckily many networks now appear to make their shows available on the Internet after they air, so I guess we could make do.

So anyway, with nine days left until the marathon, it's time to start obsessing over the weather on race day in Traverse City. It appears that I need have no worries on that count yet:

Sat
May 26
Partly Cloudy
69°/47° 10%
10 Comfortable

Let's hope that holds.

Ha! I'll also be checking the forecast everyday. So far, so good.

There is nothing better than The Office. The original BBC version is pretty hysterical also.

I also really enjoyed Melinda, I was sad to see her go.

Wow, you are so close to the race! The weather looks perfect, you've had a great training cycle, you are going to rock it!!! :)

I think I'm the only person that did not want Melinda to win. I think because she was already a paid professional singer. I think the choices for this season were (are) kind of weak, but of course I still watch! I hate the human beat box sounds that Blake makes, but I like his voice when he sings normal. Jordin kind of sounds like everyone else, sooooo I hope Blake wins.
We actually throw an AI Finale party at our house every year (okay, just started last year). But it should be another fun bash this year.
I laugh so hard when I watch The Office! Love that show.

Melinda Rocked, i'm done watching

Blake always does the same rountine on stage and it's getting old, he never really puts genuine emotion into his performances. Roxanne sucked

Jordin's okay and real cute, but she seems to lack the range that Melinda had vocally.

Forget about watching the weather for TC, it can change every mile we run. It'll drive you batty

I <3 House! Bones is so-so. I can't get into Heroes... possibly because I didn't watch it from the start. I get lost. I think its like one of those daytime soaps - can't start in the middle, otherwise you don't get all the subtle innuendos.

I agree about Doolittle! She was the best.
