Rest in peace, Heath

I am so freaking sad about Heath Ledger. :( In fact, this would have to be the sorriest I've ever been about the death of an actor. He was only two years older than me. Anyway, I've liked him since high school, when I first saw him in a short-lived television series called Roar. Then 10 Things I Hate About You came out. This is one of the few teen comedies that I actually like (possibly because it is loosely based on The Taming of the Shrew). I've enjoyed him in all the roles in which I've seen him, and I think he had a bright future. Most of all, I loved him in Brokeback Mountain. When I read that they were making one of my favorite short stories into a movie, I was pretty nervous, especially given the, erm, delicate nature of the story. When I heard Heath Ledger had been cast, I felt better, but still had reservations. Luckily, he and Jake Gyllenhaal pulled it off. Ledger was perfect, I think. Somehow, through all those takes, he made his voice rough and creaky, as if he didn't use it much. He convincingly aged 20-30 years. He was serious and sensitive. That movie could easily have been a disaster, but luckily they succeeded.

So, so sad.
