Lab results

I received my lab results today--everything is normal except for iron-binding capacity (which is a little too high) and percent saturation (which is too low). Iron itself is within normal, but definitely on the low side. I'm not sure if this means I'm technically anemic. In any case, I'm back on iron supplements (need multivitamins as well), and I'll go back in six months for a follow up. Best thing is, I can still run!

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO relieved, especially as I've put in 40 miles since this whole fiasco began two weeks ago. =D Maybe in the new few months I can judge to what extent this whole iron thing was impacting my running, if at all.

Well, now that that's all over with, I can go back to over-analyzing training details! ::wallows::

Great to hear the good news. Sounds like this doctor knows her stuff and will keep you on track. Good luck.

Usually hemoglobin levels for a female are supposed to be between 12.0 and 16.0. Hemoglobin is the protein that carries oxygen around your blood -- and its related to iron levels. I've been at 11.0 for some time now -- every little gradation up the scale makes a BIG difference, that I can tell you for sure. :) Good luck and I hope the supplements help.
