The early bird gets...tired!

I got up this morning at 5:30 a.m. to get my interval workout in. Since it was still dark out, I opted to warm up and cool down on the treadmill at the SportsPlex, with the 1000s done on the indoor track. Since it's a weird length (1/5 mile), I had to estimate and I think they ended up being about 50 meters long. But that's okay. I got the workout in and felt good; that's what counts.

Now I am very sleepy and pretty much ready for bed. The good news is I can go to sleep early tonight after a yummy dinner at home. The bad news is I have to get up as early or even earlier tomorrow so we can all drive up to Cleveland together. The good news is I get to see my New Hampshire family, most of whom I haven't seen in five years. So the good news outweighs the bad and that is always a nice thing. I also forgot my breakfast, so that kind of sucks, but I'll live.

We're going to Cleveland for my grandad's 90th birthday. I'm pretty excited to see the fam. This was a spur of the moment thing, but my brother is flying up from school in Texas, and my eldest cousin is flying up from school in Florida, so it will be quite a reunion. I was pleasantly surprised at the sudden movements across such distances. And glad that we have but to drive down to Clarksville and we get a free ride to Cleveland.

It's been a pretty full week of running, but things went well. My 17-miler was great; I felt good at it was about the same pace (9:30-9:40 range) as the last few. In general, the overall pace of my runs has gone down, and I don't think it's simply from increased effort. I'm eager to race again and see how things go.

Hey Mir, it's been a while since I've caught up on blogs. Glad to see you running well. And when you race again, I bet you see an improvement. :-)

Good pace for the 17 miler. Sounds like you will be ready for the next marathon.
