Flooring fun.

Although it's still an ongoing project, we're thrilled with the progress we've made on our bamboo flooring project so far. We have the living room completely done, another room done except for painting the trim, and the kitchen is about halfway done. That leaves the hallway, a small bathroom, and the dining room.

I don't want to brag or anything...but, well, it looks great. It's such an improvement over the mishmash of surfaces we had before. We actually should have done the living room last because now all we want to do is sit in there and gaze upon the floor. But seriously, our motivation to keep on with it is pretty high, and we're making some progress every day.

The living room.

This was on Derby Day, so obviously a mint julep was in order.

The living room is complete!

The nice thing about doing this work ourselves, as opposed to hiring a contractor, is the large bundle of cash we are saving. So we have money left in our budget to get things like a big area rug and a couple new bookcases for the living room. And it will be a head start on the next project.

Last night was pretty funny, because I decided to cook a couple of meals so we can live on leftovers through the weekend, and the floor was making its way into the kitchen and under the stove and the refrigerator. So we had to work around each other a little bit. But now we have enough food to last us a few days, so we can both concentrate on the floor for the whole rest of the week and weekend.

The rest is going to be easy after wrestling with these large appliances.

I'm already in love with how our rooms flow together now.

Once we get past all the obstacles in the kitchen, I think the rest is going to be easy. There's a tiny half bath that will be tedious as well, but hopefully it won't take too long. Our goal is to be finished by the end of May, and so far we're right on track.

I also really need to post about my vegetable garden. Lots of progress lately in that department too!
