I was very proud of myself for getting out tonight for a run. I ended up staying at work until 6, well after dark, trying to figure out how to set up a quick-turn job, a set of exams, so that I didn't have to enter the page number of each colored sheet in each exam. There are 1560 exams, 16 pages per exam (that's 25,000 pages or something) and 4 colored pages in each exam (that's...a lot). So anyway, I figured there had to be a better way. And there was! Since each version of the exam is the same except for the unique, mail-merge cover sheets, those can be printed as separate files and then the cover sheets can be collated on. Clear as mud? Anyways.
Today it got much, much colder, so it was hard to get outside to go running. But I layered it up and made it out. I'm still winded pretty easily after being sick, but at least I ran. I'm getting back there. As long as I run tomorrow, I'll have my five days for the week. If I'm feeling stronger next week I might try to do some fartleks or short intervals or something.
2. Aladdin
Good old Disney movie. I don't like it as much as I used to, but it's still okay. I'm spoiled now by anything Pixar does, as well as The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and Mulan. I kind of hate Jasmine, but Iago is a hoot. And anything that gives Robin Williams an excuse to do impressions is a Very Good Thing.
3. Almost Famous
This is such a sweet movie. I have a real soft spot for coming-of-age movies with excellent soundtracks. The kid who plays William is perfect, I think. He's awkward, nerdy, cute, and very genuine. I also love Frances McDormand as the over-protective mother. Just a nice little understated movie with good performances that I don't feel like is trying too hard. It makes me happy. And it has excellent music. Yes. The first time I saw this movie I downloaded the Led Zeppelin song Tangerine and listened to it over and over again. Here is an article from salon.com.
I am such a fan of the Alphabetical Movie Project!
