Stomach = VERY UPSET

I had to call in to work today after spending the night worshipping the Porcelain Goddess...and it didn't even follow an evening of merry-making. I have no idea what brought it on, but I woke up around 3 a.m. with much stomach distress. I had to keep getting up to throw up, a total of 4 or 5 times, I believe. Got no sleep to speak of, of course. I called work at about 7:15 between bouts. It let up a little while later and I finally slept until about 2:30. Got some food and water to stay down, and now feel okay. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to stomach Mark's bean stew for a while, because that was all that was in my stomach and it didn't look very pretty upon its second appearance. Sorry for the gory details.

Luckily I had already scheduled an off-day from running today, so nothing should be affected on that count. I should be back to normal tomorrow for a four-miler. On Saturday I'm toying with the idea of doing a faster pace run--maybe something in the 8:30 min/mile range for three miles? I've been playing a lot with running pace calculators and such, trying to establish a firm goal for Bayshore in May. I think, preliminarily, I would like to shoot to break the 4-hour barrier. Beyond that, I am going to see how training goes and make a goal/race plan closer to race day. If everything goes well, that should be within reach, I think.

Of course, what I really want is to BQ (attain a Boston-qualifying time). That's 3:40. That's probably out of reach for now, but all I can do is continue to improve and whittle the time down until it is attainable. Just have to stay with it...
