Book update

Okay, no race report quite yet. I'm working on it! I'm having an exceptionally busy couple of weeks here. Vacation last week and today we're heading up to Knox. Still, I've managed to do some reading lately and I wanted to talk a little about that.

I finally finished The Plague and also quickly devoured Hollywood by Charles Bukowski, which was a meta-fictionish quickie about an alcoholic writer who is convinced to write a screenplay. Although the narrator doesn't seem like the likable sort, I found myself liking him anyway. He seemed like the kind of person who has a brusque, crusty exterior but is a really good person once you get to know him.

I started on The Stolen Child, a newer novel about a changeling, and have also been looking through Advanced Marathoning. I plan on using Pfitz's 18/55 schedule for Twin Cities this fall. I haven't made any progress lately on The Stone and the Flute, but I'm not giving up on it just yet.

Marathon recovery is going really well. I went for my first run yesterday and felt pretty good. I won't run today, but I am going to try to get in something tomorrow.

Next post: Bayshore race report and impressions, as well as a look ahead to summer training; stay tuned!
